Introduction

JT | Attach is a powerful and flexible content plugin that allows you to add and manage file attachments directly within the Joomla article editor.

It enhances the content creation process by adding a dedicated "Attachments" tab to the article edit screen, featuring drag & drop uploads, file ordering, custom headers, and multiple frontend layouts.

Installation

Installing JT | Attach is simple. From your Joomla! backend, navigate to System → Install → Extensions. Then, drag and drop the downloaded package file, or use the "Upload Package File" option. After installation, make sure to enable the plugin in System → Manage → Plugins by searching for "Content - JTAttach".

Configuration

To configure the plugin's global settings, go to System → Manage → Plugins, search for "Content - JTAttach", and click on its name. The configuration options are organized into several tabs.

Basic Settings

This tab contains the primary settings for file storage and upload limits.

Base Path for Attachments

Define the root folder where all attachment subdirectories will be created. Example: images/adjuntos.

Maximum File Size (KB)

Set the maximum allowed upload size for a single file, specified in kilobytes (e.g., 10240 for 10MB).

Allow Duplicates

Choose whether to allow users to upload multiple files with the exact same name to the same article.

Max Number of Files

Limit the total number of files that can be attached to a single article. Set to 0 for unlimited.

File Types Settings

Use this powerful repeatable field to define exactly which file types are allowed. For each type, you can specify:

  • Extension: The file extension (e.g., pdf, docx).
  • MIME Type: The official MIME type for validation (e.g., application/pdf).
  • Icon: The Font Awesome class for the frontend display (e.g., fa-solid fa-file-pdf).
  • Color: A custom color for the icon.

Frontend Display

Control how the attachment list appears on your website's articles.

Position

Choose the default position to display the attachment list: before, after, or both before and after the article content.

Frontend Layout

Select the global default template for the attachment list (e.g., List or Cards). This can be overridden on a per-article basis.

Show Icon / Size / Description

Individually toggle the visibility of the file icon, file size, and file description in the frontend list.
